Coaching is a collaborative process in which coach and client work together to clarify specific values & goals.

We’ll look at any obstacles which may be holding you back, develop action plans, and put them into practice while providing support & accountability throughout the process.

How is Coaching Different from Therapy?

Counseling (also referred to as talk therapy) follows a medical model and is focused on diagnosing and treating mental health conditions. In coaching, there is no mental health evaluation. Some additional key differences include…

  • Coaching focuses on partnering with clients in behavior change rather than acting as a mental health expert.

  • Coaching focuses on enhancing specific areas of life rather than treating & managing underlying disorders or concerns.

  • Coaching is future/action oriented instead of investigating & healing the past.

  • Coaching can occur anywhere regardless of location, while therapy can only be practiced in the state in which the therapist is licensed (for example in Maryland & Virginia).
